Keith Henning’s sculpture draws inspiration from architect Ettore Sottsass’ work Totem. Using Sottsass’s objects as a departure point, Henning stacks various objects of desire to create new constellations related to gay sex culture, sexual fantasy and the body. Sottsass’ stacks of smooth, pleasing shapes are replaced by lipsticks, sex toys and homoerotic gym equipment to build up the totems in materials ranging from molded plaster and glazed stoneware to plastic.
