Jade Paton creates contemporary sculptures from clay. Her main inspiration is the ancient vessel, as well as forms in nature, architecture and art. During the hand building process, the shapes mutate and evolve into something unexpected, resulting in objects that feel ancient and futuristic at the same time. The surfaces of the sculptures can be raw and natural, as if they have emerged from the earth, or saturated, smooth and color driven.
