Frances van Hasselt is a textile designer working exclusively with mohair from South Africa to create luxurious hand-loomed rugs, blankets and tapestries. Raised on a mohair farm in the Karoo desert, van Hasselt has a deep affinity for mohair - her designs and sustainable processes informed by the slow, natural rhythm of her desert environment. Van Hasselt collaborates with women artisans in rural communities to weave the rugs and tapestries, and employs legacy South African textile factories to produce her line of limited-edition mohair blankets. Most recently, van Hasselt’s work was included in the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale.
